Eight Seconds At A Time
This poem offers my perspective on a historic event in the 2025 Professional Bull Riders (PBR) Teams season. With the Texas Rattlers’ home streak ended, the Austin Gamblers were crowned the Texas Cup champions in Fort Worth, reshaping the playoff race in the final weeks of competition.
When the trucks rolled into Cowtown,
The rough stock sure looked fine.
Top bucking bulls that twist and spin,
Eight seconds at a time.
One by one, the athletes struggled,
Astride those rank bovines.
Tossed before the buzzer signaled,
Eight seconds at a time.
Seeking a win on rival soil,
Sage Kimzey qualified.
He rode again that Greasy Bend,
Eight seconds at a time.
When the dust had finally settled,
One solemn truth did shine.
History was made in Texas,
Eight seconds at a time.
